During 2021 and 2022 I had the honour of interviewing, on radio, people who have been involved in the field of Development Education in Ireland from the 1960s to the present day. Together, the series of interviews, in eight one hour shows, provides a contribution towards an oral history of Development Education in Ireland, from the 1960s to the present day.
This is the fifth in a series of eight programmes.
Programme 5 – 2000s onwards: George Jacob, Dorothy Jacob, Sophie McElligott and Ade Adekeye.

In this fifth programme in our series, we meet people who have been involved with Dev Ed in different ways as we come into more recent decades. It is an honour to welcome George Jacob and Dorothy Jacob of Self-Help Africa, , along with a young woman Sophie McElligott who is a pupil at St Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School in Navan. Also in this programme we are delighted to meet with Ade Adekeye who is associated with Galway One World Centre.
My thanks to Dorothy, George Sophie and Ade. I salute your immense contribution to the DE movement. Thank you for sharing your experience with a wider public.
